Cole Palmer: A Havertz clone now turning into a Chelsea icon

Where would Chelsea be if the club had not signed Cole Palmer?

Chelsea made a couple of signings in the last 2 transfer windows to bring in some exciting stars to Stamford Bridge. Some, were high profile reinforcements who carried on their laps, head turning price tags.

However, for this season, it is one signing who Chelsea fans in their droves and a couple of pundits, largely considered unnecessary and if anything; ‘a look alike Kai Havertz’ that has turned the team’s season for the better.

A lot of fans would argue that this season is a write off, but of course, it could have been worse had Chelsea not thought outside the box to bring in a Pep Guardiola reject; Cole Palmer.

The former Manchester City has in fact not only helped Mauricio Pochettino’s Chelsea team to where they currently find themselves at; 8 in the league, but has grown to become the tick in the team’s forward line in the absence of Christopher Nkunku.

In a season where the big money signings like Moises Caicedo, Enzo Fernandez have struggled to make a mark in the team, Cole Palmer has slid in to register not only 9 goals in 17 Premier League games for Chelsea, but has become the only 21-years-old in the club’s history to do so.

The irony speaks for itself for a player who many had written off in the summer for supposedly being discarded by Manchester City and Pep Guardiola, and was seen by some as surplus to Chelsea’s requirements, and if anything, a cheap Kai Havertz clone.

Cole Palmer becomes not only a player to watch, but a Chelsea icon no one saw coming.

He left Manchester City as a Pep Guardiola reject, but at Stamford Bridge, he stands a Pep Guardiola regret.
