Manchester United fans raise new concerns over Ten Hag

The woes deepen for Manchester United after a 1-0 loss to Newcastle United, sparking worry among supporters and intensifying pressure on manager Erik ten Hag. Anthony Gordon’s second consecutive Premier League goal secured Newcastle’s victory, marking United’s sixth defeat this season.

The Magpies dominated proceedings at St. James’ Park, stifling the Red Devils to just one shot on target throughout the game. Despite Newcastle playing a full 90 minutes against Paris Saint-Germain midweek in the Champions League, Eddie Howe’s side outplayed a lackluster United that made four changes following a draw with Galatasaray.

Post-match, Ten Hag’s comments to TNT Sports drew ire as he assessed United’s performance, stating,

“We had a tough first half and said at half-time we were pleased to be in the game. We had a good comeback in the last part of the game. We will talk tomorrow with the team about it. We go back, we will talk about this and move to Wednesday.”

Manchester United seemed to salvage a late equalizer through substitute Antony, but the goal was disallowed due to Harry Maguire being in an offside position.

Ten Hag’s remarks, particularly his evaluation of the team’s performance, stirred backlash on social media. Fans expressed frustration, with one calling it “embarrassing” and another urging the club to “sack him now and try to save the season.”

During the match, Ten Hag was seen in a heated exchange with Anthony Martial in the first half, further highlighting tensions within the team. Martial was subsequently substituted for Rasmus Hojlund as United sought to level the score.

With the pressure mounting, United faces a daunting fixture against Chelsea on Wednesday evening, heightening the scrutiny on Ten Hag’s leadership amidst a turbulent season.
