Places we need to improve on -- Erik ten Hag

Erik ten Hag sees a lot of problems in his Manchester United team.

Manchester United may have had a stellar season last season that secured Champions League football ahead of the likes of Liverpool, Tottenham Hotspur and Chelsea who at certain points were contenders for the top 4, Erik ten Hag doesn’t guaranty the team being up to par with its oppositions next season.

The Dutchman has identified some key areas the team should be needing to improve on if they hope to compete with top sides this coming season following the 2-0 defeat to Real Madrid.

Erik ten Hag thus has singled out the likes of Marcus Rashford, Scott McTominay and Alejandro Garnacho for missing a one-on-one-situation.

This highlights the current issue plaguing the Red Devils in terms of goal scoring prowess against opponents that was evident last season.

According to Erik ten Hag, the Red Devils need to improve on their pressing and scoring goals.

Two goals from Jude Bellingham and Joselu doomed the Manchester United against Real Madrid at the NRG Stadium in the early hours of Thursday.

Manchester United had chances of their own but failed to score with any of their 14 attempts during the encounter.

Speaking after the game, Erik ten Hag was quoted by Sky Sports:

“There were two things – pressing can be better from the start, and scoring goals.

“I think we need more players who are capable of being in one-on-ones and we had the situations of one-on-ones.

“It was Rashford, it was, I thought, Scott McTominay in one-on-one situations. Garnacho, a one-on-one situation. From these situations, you have to score.”
