Plateau government closes borders as Coronavirus spread continues

The Plateau State government has announced the closure of all its borders though it is yet to record any case of Coronavirus.

Secretary to the government, Professor Danladi Atu who made the announcement added that there will be no exit or entrance into the state except those on essential services that are to be cleared by security agencies and preliminary tests by health workers.

Atu revealed that they have been receiving cash donations, food items and medical equipment,  with a leading financial institution donating N28.5million. Members of the Academic Staff Union of Universities have also offered hand sanitizers and enlightenment materials as its contributions to the fight against COVID-19.

Atu who also threatened that the state would not hesitate to shut down any religious organisation or group that disregards the order on public gathering, disclosed that the state has not recorded any case of virus as all samples taken in for examination came back negative.

He said;

“Some religious organisations that flouted the order of not gathering of more than 50 people last week have been invited by security agencies and have apologised and have been made to vow not to violate government orders again.

“There is also enhanced sensitisation particularly at the grassroots level as we have engaged stakeholders cutting across all sectors in the state.”

I love to read, write and TRAVEL!!! The media space is my canvas to paint the truths of our brands and the stories of our Nigerian culture. I love a good book any day because with them I can travel to spaces that are perfect in their frame.
