5 Anti-Aging Techniques to make you feel Young at Heart

This is NOT a post about the magic pills or supplements to use. These are just rules for living that when you start to follow, you will notice a difference in how you feel, you will feel younger and less stressed. No matter how old you are, you can stay young at heart for as long as you want to. The biological clock may not stop ticking but you can forget about your age and enjoy life along with the many blessings that come your way.

The benefits of following these rules make it worth the effort.

 

  1. Laugh At Yourself

You need to be able to laugh at yourself. Take a step back and laugh at the situation you are in, without any regard for how someone else might want to judge you for what just happened. Smiles and laughter cost nothing but they will result in a delightful feeling that brings happiness to the heart. So how does this help keep you healthy and young at heart?

First, it frees you up to enjoy life.  If you always take yourself too seriously, you will find that it’s difficult to maintain meaningful relationships and secondly, you will be less stressed.

 

  1. Don’t Get Cynical

If you can start to recognize when you are being cynical, then you can make adjustments to your habits.  Here’s how you can tell if you are being cynical:

 

  • You have “been there, done that.” Even if you don’t use those exact words, that’s an attitude of cynicism.
  • You’re so “over it.” Who decided that it’s cool to think things are uncool?
  • Ask a close friend to tell you when you’re being cynical. That’s the quickest way to identify your own cynical tendencies.

 

After identifying what triggers your cynicism, now you can make a conscious effort to make an opposite response.  The opposite of cynicism is wonder — to approach things with a sense of expectation and awe. Getting rid of cynicism will allow you to enjoy life more.  You will be able to appreciate things more fully.  Just because you have experienced something, that does not make it any less valuable or impressive.

 

  1. Be Shameless

To be shameless means to be comfortable in your own skin.  It’s about being yourself without worrying about what someone else thinks.  Sometimes we have heard so many negative voices from those around us that it makes us hesitate to stand out and sometimes there are voices in our own head, further imprisoning ourselves with fear.

This too will allow you to feel more free, and less trapped in your own head.  It’s okay to be yourself.  Everyone else is already taken anyway. Ignore the negative voices. Don’t worry about what other people think.

 

  1. Be Active

Children are always full of energy and they do not tire easily. Having an active lifestyle will also make you feel young since your body will stay in good shape and you will not notice the limitation that old age often brings.

 

  1. Be Spontaneous

Live for the moment and stop worrying too much about what will happen in the future. The present offers so many joys for you to grab. If you let them pass, it will become part of the past and you may end up feeling sorry.
