Three suspected robbers were killed on Wednesday by operatives of the Joint Military Task Force in Rumuji, in the Emohua Local Government Area of Rivers State.

It was gathered that the hoodlums had gained entrance into a military base in the area to steal camouflage ostensibly for robbery purposes.

A security source said luck ran out on the robbers as some soldiers sighted them entering the barracks.

It was gathered that a group of hoodlums had earlier invaded the host community, wearing military camouflage.

He said, “As soon as the soldiers saw the hoodlums sneaking into the base, they followed and shot at them when they attempted to escape with some camouflage.”

Another source, identified as Chukwuma said, “The incident caused tension in the community as some soldiers went to Rumuji-Ibaa junction in search of suspected accomplices.

“Commercial motorcyclists at the junction abandoned their motorcycles and ran away.”
