On Her Death Bed, My Mom Begged Me To Write ‘Boss Up’- Chika Ike

Ever since 2005 when she landed her first movie role in the movie ‘Sweet Love’, Nollywood screen diva, Chika Ike, has positioned herself as a strong African woman who would never allow circumstances of life limit her.

The actress, who invested in real estate business, movie production alongside other businesses in her twenties, explained to Showtime Bonus in a chat how her late mom encouraged her to publish her recently launched autobiography titled ‘Boss Up’. “Before my mom passed on three years ago, she was also an author and was aware of my unpublished book. On her sick bed, she looked at me, held my hands and told me to tell my story. I’m a very guarded person, my walls are up because life has thrown me so many curved balls, I brought down all my walls in this book, because the truth is, we are on this earth to share and not just to take. So, I finally bossed up and got my book published”, she said. Speaking further, she revealed that it took her over seven years to put the book together. “It took me over seven years of writing to finally publish Boss up! Seven years of documenting my thoughts, emotions, truth and events that taught me some life lessons and brought me to this point.” Speaking about the book, Chika Ike said; “Boss up is one of my ways of giving back to the society. Telling my truth isn’t so comfortable because it has been a roller-coaster ride to get to where I’m today. I have failed, made mistakes, trusted, and had my good and bad moments. But today I stand firm, stronger than ever and living my best life. Boss up is a 41-chapter book which covers most of the obstacles we encounter in life, including fear, convention, betrayal, love, self-esteem and money.” “It will give you a guide to conquering obstacles and living your best life. All my tips and tricks on how I became this successful are in this book.
