Kidnappers demand N100m for abducted teenag

Abductors of a 14-year-old girl, Khadijat Salisu, in Katsina have demanded N100m ransom for her release.

The girl was abducted on Thursday morning at her parents’ residence in Kankia, Katsina State.

The victim’s father, Salisu Mai-Tiles, told newsmen that the abductors had allowed the girl to speak with him on the phone.

He said although the girl said they were demanding N30m ransom, he overheard them arguing that they needed N100m.

“I heard from the background their arguments, saying N100m,” Mai-Tiles said.

The Katsina Police Command spokesman, DSP Gambo Isah, said the Kankia Divisional Police Officer and his men were still in the bush searching for the girl and her abductors.

Isah said, “The DPO for Kankia has asked me to give him some time before volunteering any comments. He said they were still inside the bush, searching for her. Give me some time before confirming or denying the incident, please.’’

Three armed men had reportedly invaded the victim’s residence at Sabuwar, Abuja Quarters in Kankia about 1.30am on Thursday where they seized her and whisked her away despite her father’s pleas and overtures to them.

The father said, “They asked me to give them money which I did. Whatever they asked for, we never objected to them, to save our lives; but unfortunately, they went away with my 14-year-old daughter.”
