Published

on

In the field of photo editing, there is no other King of the sea than the one and only “Adobe Photoshop”, it has even become part of our vocabularies replacing terms like “image editing”. Photoshop is available on different platforms like Windows and Mac for professionals and social users, but the cost is a big factor that pulls a lot of users away.

But the good news we have is that there are lots of alternatives out there that won’t require you to pay a shilling. We present to you  The 5 Best FREE Photoshop Alternatives.

1)Pixlr

Pilxr The 5 Best FREE Photoshop Alternatives

Talking from experience Pixlr is the best alternative to Photoshop you can find out there, it is one of the most important tools we use on this platform to edit/retouch images. Pilxr is an online service, so you need to be connected to the internet, unlike Adobe Photoshop that is available as desktop software.

You can use Pilxr in two different versions: Editor and Express. The Express is a simpler version of Photoshop where you can do all the basic functions of image editing, while the  Editor is more like a fully functional Photoshop.

2)Gimp

Gimp is one of the oldest image editing service out there. It is arguably as powerful as Photoshop and is available on Linux too. Gimp has some unique and robust features compared to Photoshop, plus a user-friendly user interface.

3)Krita

Krita The 5 Best FREE Photoshop Alternatives

The only thing I don’t like about Krita is that it seems like the developers UX designers had photoshop in mind when designing the interface.

But Krita is FREE and an open source program where the community come together in making the software a great success. Krita is mostly used by concept artists, illustrators, matte and texture artists in the Graphic industry. You are very right if you believe Krita lacks bundles of features like those that you can get with Gimp & Photoshop.

4)Inkscape

Inkscape The 5 Best FREE Photoshop Alternatives

Inkscape is professional open-source quality vector graphics software which runs on Linux, Mac OS X and Windows desktop computers. Inkscape is very similar to the popular Corel Draw or Adobe Illustrator. The most amazing feature of Inkscape is that its primary format is Scalable Vector Graphics (SVG), an open XML-based W3C standard, however many other formats can be imported and exported.

5)Polarr

Polarr is created by a photo editing software startup and was founded in August 2014 by two former Stanford University masters’ students, Borui Wang, and Enhao Gong.

Polarr is awesome with filters, and I suggest it if you need to apply great filters to a picture, plus  it has a smooth interface which is user-friendly.
