Zenith Bank Faces Backlash Over Network Issues Fees
Zenith Bank customers have become more frustrated in recent weeks as a result of persistent network issues that have restricted banking services.
The outage impacted many people, preventing them from accessing their accounts or receiving necessary notifications. Customers had been dealing with these technological challenges for more than two weeks, with no fix in sight.
One especially unhappy customer, Stanley Okonrokwo, expressed his anger to the Topnaija media platform stating that after two weeks of silence from the bank, the first message he received was a notification that a maintenance fee had been withdrawn from his account.
Okonrokwo called the situation as “the height of insensitivity,” pointing out that the bank’s refusal to communicate during the outages exacerbated the problem.
“Zenith Bank had a network issue for some time now. This problem frustrated many people. The first SMS I got from Zenith in over 2 weeks now is they have deducted money for maintenance fer. THAT IS THE HEIGHT OF INSENSITIVITY”
Okonrokwo wondered why maintenance fees were deducted for a service that was not rendered and no apology was sent to business owners affected by the outage
Many consumers shared his sentiment, expressing concerns about the bank’s priorities during the service delays. With several concerns surfacing online, users are now urging Zenith Bank to enhance its customer service and technological infrastructure, as well as to explain the maintenance charges during a period of bad service.
Recall that the bank released a statement on its X platform stating the reason for the disruption.
The statement read, “Dear Valued Customer, We sincerely apologize for the service disruptions you experienced recently on our banking channels.
“This was due to an Information Technology upgrade aimed at improving the quality of service we provide you.”
