Zamfara: Troops rescue five kidnapped women, two babies

Troops from the Joint Task Force Operation Hadarin Daji (OPHD) completed a significant mission in Zamfara. They successfully freed five women and two babies who had been kidnapped for two months.

These people were kidnapped from Marange village in Niger State in January 2024.

The operation, which took place in Zamfara state’s Kuyambana forest, included a daring military assault.

The operation’s Information Officer, Lt. Suleiman Omale, attributed the success to the vigilant troops’ unwavering offensive in the Kuyambana area.

The rescued victims had spent a long time in captivity under the control of bandits before escaping.

Following their rescue, the victims were debriefed before being handed over to the appropriate authorities to begin the process of reuniting them with their families.

Maj. Gen. Godwin Matkut, the General Officer Commanding 8 Division of the Nigerian Army Sokoto, praised the troops’ professionalism during the rescue operation.

He urged them to continue their efforts until all criminal elements were eliminated, restoring peace and normalcy to the region.
