Zamfara Assembly recalls suspended lawmakers

The Zamfara State House of Assembly recalls suspended members of the House based on the recommendations of the ethics and privileges committee of the House that investigated the two suspended lawmakers.

The two lawmaker, Hon. Yusuf Muhammad representing Anka constituency and Hon. Ibrahim T. Tukur representing Bakura constituency, were suspended on allegation of involvement in unholy and unethical conduct but the committee has exonerated them of any wrongdoing.
The committee strongly recommend their immediate recall to their respective seats.
Immediately after the presentation of the report before the House by the chairman House Committee on ethics and privileges, Hon. Kabiru Hashimu Dansadau and subsequent deliberations, the House unanimously agreed to recall their colleagues since they have been exonerated.
Speaker, Nasiru Mu’azu Magarya in his remarks, saluted the courage of the committee for painstakingly arriving at that conclusion.
He ordered the recall of the two suspended House members with effect from the next legislative year, beginning from January 15, 2022.
The House also considered and adopted all the recommendations contained in the report of the public Accounts Committee on the 2020 State Auditor General’s Report presented by the Deputy Speaker, Hon Musa Bawa Musa Yankuzo.
Anka has an area of 2,746 km2 and a population of 142,280 at the 2006 census while Bakura has an area of 1,366 km2 and a population of 186,905 at the 2006 census.
