Yul Edochie explodes, denies friendship claims with Ason Rich

Nollywood actor, Yul Edochie at late hours of Wednesday night moved quick to deny links with alleged kidnapper and filmmaker, Ason Rich.

The Nigerian actor and director whose name and pictures were all over the late Ason Rich to indicate close ties between them, ignited a storm on social media via his Twitter handle to deny the alleged kidnap kingpin.

This unexpected drama unfolded as Yul Edochie found his pictures thrust into the scandal following the Lagos State police’s crackdown on a notorious kidnapping ring, which led to the deaths of nine suspects.

Among the suspects was Ason Rich, a figure once thought to be a respectable movie producer. The plot thickened when a photo of Edochie and Rich began circulating, leading to sensationalist headlines that painted them as close friends.

Furious at the media for distorting the narrative, Edochie took to his social media platform to set the record straight in a fiery video.

“The media manipulation has turned a simple photo into a scandalous headline,” Edochie fumed. He explained that his only interaction with Rich was a brief encounter on a movie set, where they took a photo together.

Yul Edochie stressed that he had no personal ties with Rich and warned those spreading falsehoods about his intentions to seek legal redress.

Veteran filmmaker Kanayo O Kanayo, known as KOK, weighed in on the controversy, providing a scathing critique of Ason Rich’s credentials. KOK, who prides himself as a guardian of Nollywood, dismissed Rich’s status as a legitimate filmmaker, noting his minimal contributions to the industry.
