YouTube cancels Late Nigerian televangelist, TB Joshua

YouTube has taken down the primary channel of the Synagogue Church of All Nations (SCOAN). This decision comes in the midst of sexual assault allegations surrounding the late founder of the church, TB Joshua.

The channel in question, Emmanuel TV, served as a platform for broadcasting the religious activities conducted by the church.

The action by YouTube follows the passing of TB Joshua on June 5, 2021, and amidst a historic investigation by the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) into the late preacher.

The controversial documentary produced by the BBC triggered extensive online discussions, drawing varied opinions from internet users.

The documentary delved into the life of the deceased preacher and his church, featuring interviews with approximately 30 purported former members and workers of the Synagogue.

YouTube, in explaining its decision, stated that the channel was removed due to a violation of its policy.

According to YouTube, “The flagged channel was terminated for violating our hate speech policies.”

The platform maintains strict policies against hate speech, cyberbullying, and harassment, explicitly prohibiting any form of harassment directed at survivors of sexual violence.
