Young makeup artist killed in shooting targeting male companion

Moesha Heath, a 23-year-old makeup artist known as ‘Momo,’ was gunned down outside her house in Sheffield, Westmoreland, Jamaica.

The unfortunate occurrence happened about 5:50 p.m. on March 19, 2023, when the makeup artist came home with a male partner.

Momo and the guy drove into their yard, and as they stepped out, they were confronted by three men who emerged from behind their home.

One of the guys told the other not to move and began firing at them, causing them both to flee in separate ways.

The gentleman escaped unharmed and phoned the police. When the cops came, they discovered Heath lying on her back at the front door of her residence, with gunshot wounds to her head and upper body.

She was sent to the Savanna-la-Mar Public General Hospital and declared dead. As of the time of reporting this article, no motive for the murder has been identified.

In other news, Ikechukwu Ogbonna, 37, alias IVD, was charged before a Lagos State High Court in Ikeja on Monday for the alleged manslaughter of his late wife Abimbola, who perished in a fire at their apartment in the state’s Lekki region.

The defendant was charged with one count of involuntary manslaughter in suit No. LD/21055C/23 filed by the Lagos State Government against him.

Adeshola Bello, the prosecution counsel, informed the court that the claimed crime was committed on the wrong date.

“We have on record October 10 but the date was October 12,” Bello said.

He asked the court to allow the prosecution permission to make an adjustment, which the court did.

According to Bello, the accused offense violated Section 229 of the Lagos State Criminal Code of 2015.

However, when arraigned before judge Modupe Nicole-Clay, Ogbonna pled not guilty to the accusations leveled against him.
