You really don’t have to like Simi, popular Nigerian artiste Simisola Kosoko let’s her social media followers know as she hits hard on her critics.

The Nigerian singer popularly known as Simi, has taken a stand against fans who have been urging her to change her musical style. The acclaimed ‘Duduke’ crooner expressed her frustration after a fan suggested she should “switch up” her sound.

The incident unfolded when Simi shared a snippet of one of her new songs on X platform, prompting a fan with the handle @Zeebaby_X to comment, advising her to diversify her sound. The fan’s remark sparked a conversation among other followers who echoed similar sentiments.

In response to the criticism, Simi took to social media to address the issue directly. Expressing her frustration, she questioned the validity of the claims and invited the fan to provide specific examples of her alleged repetitive style.

She also challenged comparisons to other artists and asked for constructive feedback on how she could improve.

Simi’s firm response extended to another thread where she urged those who do not appreciate her music to listen to other artists instead. Drawing a parallel with British superstar Adele, she emphasized that sticking to a particular genre does not diminish her talent, citing Adele’s consistent success with her signature style.

She wrote;

“Omo because I’m doing girl next door, some of you think maybe I’m ok like that. If you don’t like my song, please go and listen to your faves. I’m begging. If it’s the features you want to allow yourself acknowledge my talent, hear that one and be going.

“Na the same ballad Adele dey sing all these days, her people no disturb am. E fi mi sile. If you don’t like what I’m selling, go and listen to the one you like. Unless you don’t have data. And if you don’t have, owo e lo wa ku si.”
