"You Clapped for This!" — Charles Apoki blasts Nigerians

“You clapped for this, so you must be ready to enjoy the brunt of it,” Charles Apoki hits out at Nigerians who voted Bola Tinubu in as President.

In a fiery social media outburst, Nigerian public speaker and clergyman Dr. Charles Apoki has laid the blame for the country’s economic struggles squarely at the feet of its citizens. Apoki, known for his outspoken views, took to his platform to reprimand Nigerians for their role in the current administration’s policies, which he argues were clearly outlined but disregarded during the elections.

In his video, Charles Apoki expressed frustration over what he sees as a lack of accountability and foresight among Nigerians. He recounted how citizens cheered and supported controversial statements made by President Bola Tinubu about reducing purchasing power and expanding the tax base—promises that have now translated into widespread economic hardship.

“The economy is biting hard, but somehow I don’t feel sorry for Nigerians,” Apoki declared. “They knew what was coming. They thought politics was a comedy show, where clowns and entertainers parade every four years.”

Charles Apoki didn’t hold back in criticizing how Nigerians have responded to the administration’s shortcomings, including their reluctance to protest effectively and the disillusionment expressed by some. He accused protestors of hypocrisy and questioned the efficacy of their actions in the face of rising fuel prices and increasing economic strain.

He also dismissed attempts to blame political leaders solely for the current crisis, emphasizing that the electorate’s choices and actions directly contributed to the situation.

“Today, everyone is feeling the pinch, from the highest echelons to ordinary citizens. We all clapped for these policies, and now we’re reaping what we sowed,” Apoki said.

The clergyman’s comments have ignited a fresh wave of debate online, with many defending their actions and others echoing Apoki’s frustrations. Is Dr. Charles Apoki’s harsh critique a wake-up call or a misdirection? The conversation continues as Nigerians grapple with their economic reality and political choices.
