‘You blocked their future, they block your roads’ – Shehu Sani mocks FG

Former Nigerian senator, Shehu Sani has taunted the federal government over the ongoing protest across the country.

Youth across the country are currently on the streets, demanding better governance and an end to police brutality.

The protesters, who have taken over major roads in the country, have vowed not to leave the streets until there is an improvement in governance.

On Friday, they blocked the road to the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja, Lekki-Ikoyi toll gate and third mainland bridge in Lagos, among others.

After a candle light session on Friday night, youth trooped to the streets of Port Harcourt in Rivers, on Saturday morning.

In a tweet, Sani hinted that young persons were fighting back because they had lost hope in the government.
“You blocked their future, they are now blocking your roads. #ENDBADGOVERNANCE #EndSARS,” he tweeted.

 

The tweet was retweeted more than 2000 times in less than 30 minutes after it was posted.

 

Nigeria’s President Muhammadu Buhari has called for “patience and calm” as he announced the disbandment of Sars which as been replaced with a new division named Swat (Special Weapons and Tactics).

 

With protests continuing though, many protesters have rejected the new division.
