“Yes, times are tough” — Tinubu addresses Nigerians
In a solemn address at the Aso Villa mosque in Abuja, President Tinubu expressed empathy towards the Nigerian populace, acknowledging the prevailing economic hardships amidst the onset of Ramadan.
Speaking during the first Tafsir ceremony, President Tinubu urged citizens to brace themselves for challenges ahead, emphasizing the need for sacrifice, discipline, and kindness towards one another, particularly in supporting the less privileged.
“We thank Almighty Allah for granting us the opportunity to witness another holy month of Ramadan, and for allowing us to navigate through recent elections,” stated President Tinubu, as he reflected on the nation’s tribulations. “Yes, times are tough, but it is incumbent upon us to heed Allah’s call for sacrifice, discipline, and kindness.”
Touching upon the prevalent security challenges, including kidnapping and banditry, President Tinubu implored divine intervention, praying for mercy upon the nation and its inhabitants. He underscored the significance of unity and perseverance in facing these trials.
Addressing the Ulamas present, President Tinubu emphasized their role in fostering forgiveness, patience, and generosity among the faithful. “It is our duty to extend kindness and share our blessings with our fellow brethren,” he remarked, highlighting the spirit of sacrifice inherent in Ramadan.
As the faithful embark on this sacred period of fasting and prayer, President Tinubu invoked blessings upon the nation, praying for strength, prosperity, and unity. “May Allah grant us the fortitude to surmount challenges and to foster a nation built on love and greatness,” he concluded.
