"Yes, I had to make a Sacrifice to build my House" -- Kanayo

In a recent online Town Hall Meeting, renowned Nollywood actor Kanayo O. Kanayo, popularly known as KOK, issued a warning to Nigerian youths, emphasizing that there is no genuine connection between human sacrifices and acquiring wealth.

Kanayo, famous for his iconic roles as a ritualist in movies, explained that the portrayals in films should not be taken as reality.

The virtual meeting, organized by an online news platform and held monthly, revolved around the theme

“Rituals, Riches, and Realities: The Myths of Money-Making and the Dignity of Labor.”

During his guest appearance, the Nollywood actor urged young people to focus on hard work and debunk the fallacies surrounding wealth acquisition through rituals.

He emphasized that wealth is attained through dedication and diligence, dispelling the misconceptions perpetuated by certain cinematic depictions. Kanayo stated,

“These people (youths) have upped their ante, and it is not about what they watch in movies. There is no truth to the belief that a man residing in a thatched house would instruct you to kill your girlfriend and engage in macabre acts to amass riches.”

He added that,

“The Yahoo (scam) we knew many years ago involved writing letters and promising unrealistically lucrative deals. We know many individuals in public office today who were part of it, although I won’t mention names.

“But today, people are exposed to sinister practices like Yahoo Promax, which involves heinous acts and superstitions. There is no discernible connection between these actions and financial success; money is genuinely earned through hard work.”

Sharing his personal experience, the entertainment personality revealed how he managed to accumulate wealth without resorting to any form of sacrifice or ritualistic practices.

He disclosed,

“I laid the foundation of my house in 2015, and in 2016, Globacom, owned by Mike Adenuga, enlisted me for a nationwide campaign.

“The financial rewards were substantial, and I was paid upfront even before the campaign started. I earned enough to build my house. Some would call it a sacrifice, but I opted to complete my house instead of buying a brand-new 2015 Range Rover at the time.”

The Nollywood thespian concluded,

“So the sacrifice I made was that I left the Range Rover and invested in my house. That was the sacrifice I made.”
