‘Essence’ a sonorous track off ‘Made In Lagos‘, an album by Wizkid featuring Tems, has made Barack Obama’s annual list of favourite songs for 2020.

The former US president took to his social media page on Saturday to share a total of 30 tracks drawn across different musical genres.

Obama said the songs were selected with the help of Shasha, his daughter, who he described as the “family’s music guru”. He also enjoined other music lovers to check out songs on the list.

“Here are some of my favorite songs of the year. As usual, I had some valuable consultation from our family music guru, Sasha, to put this together. I hope you find a new song or two to listen to,” he wrote on Twitter.

Among songs on the list are ‘Savage Remix’ by Megan Thee Stallion featuring Beyoncé and ‘Damage’ by H.E.R.

The development further stretches what has been an incredible year for Nigerian artistes in the global music landscape as the country’s genre of music continues to gain wider acceptability.
