Wizkid’s Father, Balogun

Muniru Olatunji Balogun, the father of renowned Grammy-award-winning singer, Wizkid, recently revealed his significant involvement in community leadership and politics.

He disclosed that he served as the Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Alaba, Lagos for an impressive duration of 14 years. Balogun initially held the position of ward Chairman for the defunct Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) and later assumed the chairmanship of the ruling APC after the party’s merger.

During a recent interview with GoldMyne TV, Balogun proudly discussed his contributions to the Alaba community. He shared an intriguing anecdote about his pivotal role in bringing electricity to Alaba in 1972. Recognizing the dire need for power in the area, he took the initiative to approach the Nigerian Electricity Power Authority (NEPA) and successfully convinced them to survey the entire Alaba region, eventually leading to the installation of electricity. These efforts represent just a fraction of his contributions to the community.

Balogun also holds the esteemed position of Babadeen at the Alaba Central Mosque, reflecting his dedication to religious and spiritual matters within the community. Moreover, his 14-year tenure as the Chairman of the APC in Alaba showcases his commitment to political leadership and his active participation in shaping the local political landscape.

Expressing his gratitude for his continued existence and the success of his son, Wizkid, Balogun expressed his satisfaction with his life’s journey and the positive impact he has made within the community.
