Mrs. Eniola Adeyemo, the wife of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority, LASTMA, Rotimi Adeyemo, who was shot dead by policeman attached to F-SARS, Olukunle Olonade, weeps as she recounted her last moment with her husband.

Speaking when the Chief Executive Officer of LASTMA, Mr. Chris Olakpe and General Manager of the agency, Olawale Musa led other officers to pay a condolence visit to the family in Ipaja-Ayobo axis of the state, Mrs Adeyemo said her husband had plans and aspirations for his three children, two of whom were twin.

“On Wednesday morning, we had a lengthy chat on our plans for the children and yuletide. He assured me that all the plans would be fulfilled and that soon, with his diligence at work, fortunes would smile on him and become the most celebrated LASTMA officer.

“But I never knew that was our last conversation. This was because we often chat a lot and he has become my confidant. But his death has truncated all that now. All I want is adequate care for the children because he never joke with them,” a weeping Adeyemo said.

She described her husband as a loving and caring man who also encouraged others not to despair irrespective of their circumstances.

The deceased brother, Oluremi Adeyemo said if he had premonition of his death, he would have asked Rotimi to leave his duty post.

“I waved at him few minutes before his death,” he said.

According to him, the deceased was generous and pillar of the family, saying that he drove past Iyana-Ipaja roundabout 10 minutes before the tragedy and saw him managing the traffic as usual.

“Also, a day before that day, he came to my office to discuss plans on the upcoming wedding of our cousin. The weding was expected to take place January. We had plans to go home and celebrate the Christmas with our parents who were both over 100 years,” he narrated.

“We are going establish a foundation where we honour Adeyemo for his sterling contribution to the management of traffic in the state. It would be in form of an award to encourage diligence and industry among LASTMA. We have two officers that have been murdered in the state. They will be the foundation for the award.
