Why we won’t test students for COVID-19 – Lagos

On Friday, the Lagos State Government has said it is not going to compel its pupils to undergo the coronavirus test, TopNaija reports.

In a recenet interview, the Head, Public Affairs Unit, Lagos State Ministry of Education, Mr Kayode Abayomi, said the state would ensure that all schools adhere to the COVID-19 safety measures.

He said, “For now that is not on our agenda, to the best of my knowledge, there is nothing like that. All the schools already know the safety protocols; the pupils’ temperature will be checked before entering the school, washing of hands will also be mandated.”

Abayomi stated that the Commissioner for Education, Mrs Folasade Adefisayo, has mandated schools not to have more than 20 pupils in a class in compliance with social distancing rule.

Recall that Adefisayo had on Monday led a monitoring team to assess compliance of public and private schools to COVID-19 protocols and guidelines for schools reopening. She inspected some public and private schools in Education District IV around Yaba, Surulere and Apapa axis.
