Why we signed Axel Disasi — Chelsea sporting directors
In a strategic move to bolster their defensive lineup, Chelsea announced the successful signing of Axel Disasi from AS Monaco into the Blues’ ranks.
The young defender put pen to paper on a substantial six-year contract with the club, marking a significant step forward in his career.
The signing of Axel Disasi to Chelsea is believed to be in the interest of creating a replacement for injured Chelsea defender, Wesley Fofana who is set to miss important games in the early stages of the premier league season.
According to Chelsea’s co-sporting directors, Laurence Stewart and Paul Winstanley, they emphasized that the player’s consistent display of quality performance across multiple seasons in the competitive French league had sparked interest in the star.
Stewart and Winstanley, in a joint statement published on Chelsea’s official website, expressed their enthusiasm for the new addition saying:
“Axel [Disasi] has showcased his quality over several seasons in France, and that has deservedly led to recognition on the international stage.”
The co-sporting directors further noted that Disasi’s skill and determination was also something that paved way for his move to Stamford Bridge.
“He is ready to take the next step in his career, and we are delighted that will be with Chelsea. We welcome him to the club and look forward to him joining up with Mauricio Pochettino and his new teammates in the days ahead,” the statement read.
