Tapswap token allocation delayed for better user rewards

Tapswap, a widely-used tap-to-earn app powered by the TON Blockchain, has announced an indefinite postponement of its token allocation to users.

The decision was made as the app’s representatives explored the most effective ways to reward its growing user base.

John Robbin, Tapswap’s Head of Communications, disclosed the postponement during a discussion on X (formerly Twitter) on Wednesday.

The app, which requires users to tap repeatedly on an icon in the Telegram Tapswap bot screen to mine coins, has gained significant popularity among Nigerians. Since its launch on February 15, 2024, it has amassed over 50 million users.

Robbin emphasized that the exact method of token allocation has yet to be determined. “The token launch was postponed until July 1.

The new date will be communicated. We will allocate a significant part of the tokens to the community to retain the tappers. We want you all to be part of the Tapswap community,” he said.

He highlighted the need for a fair token airdrop and mentioned ongoing communications with various exchanges and platforms to achieve this goal. The app also plans to ban users who exploit the game’s mechanisms, ensuring that only genuine tappers benefit.

Explaining the mining process, Robbin said, “Just open the app and tap on it; that will give you shares. The more you tap and the more upgrades you do, the more shares you will have when we finalize the tokens on it. The more tokens you want to have, the more tapping you have to do.”

Robbin also addressed the app’s recently ended booster option, which allowed new users to compete with early adopters.

“We introduced the limited x2 donation because the new influx of users kept coming in, and we needed them to make something out of it and get a fair allocation at TGE,” he explained. The funds raised will be used to enhance the game, ensuring its longevity.

He encouraged new users to continue joining the app, assuring them that there is still time to earn appreciable tokens.

The app has sparked a tapping frenzy in Nigeria, with users, including young and old, eagerly tapping away in hopes of financial rewards. In viral videos, people from various walks of life, including a Keke driver and traders in Northern Nigeria, were seen tapping on their phones.

As the Tapswap team works to finalize token allocation methods, users are advised to stay patient and continue tapping to maximize their future rewards.
