Former Enugu State Governor, Chimaroke Nnamani, has advised Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, to withdraw his petition challenging the election of Bola Tinubu at the Presidential Election Tribunal.

In a statement released on Sunday in Abuja, Mr Nnamani urged Mr Obi and his supporters to accept Mr Tinubu’s victory and move on.

He added that Mr Obi’s petition lacked any legal or electoral merit and was an attempt to damage Mr Tinubu’s reputation.

According to Mr Nnamani, Mr Obi’s petition was ego-driven and a joke carried too far.

He stated that Mr Obi did not have the national appeal or spread to win the presidential election and suggested that he negotiate on behalf of the Igbo nation and South-East for a stake in the national share of the accruals of the commonwealth.

Mr Nnamani emphasized that the Igbo nation must align with the mainstream and participate in the making of a new Nigeria.

He urged the Igbo nation to confront reality and bargain for their share in the national share of the accruals of the commonwealth.

Mr Nnamani’s statement comes after he lost his re-election bid to Labour’s Chukwu Oyibo in March.
