Why my Father’s death gives me relief – Media personality Wana Udobang reveals
Nigerian media personality and former Inspiration FM radio presenter, Wana Udobang lost her father.
While most people expected her to grief, the busty media maestro made the announcement on Twitter, adding that she feels “no sadness, no loss, no grief.”
She said that what she feels following her father’s passing is “relief and closure” because she “already grieved his 27 year absence from our lives.”
The poet, who has written about her difficult relationship with her father in the past, (read here), thanked those sending condolence messages and those opening up about their own experiences.
She also had a word for those excusing absent fathers.

Born in Lagos, Nigeria, Udobang graduated with a first-class degree in journalism from the University for the Creative Arts. After graduation, she worked for the BBC World Service as a freelance features producer. She also worked as a researcher at Wise Buddah Productions, Above the Title Productions, and Somethin’ Else.
On return to Lagos, she worked at 92.3 Inspiration FM in Lagos, Nigeria, for six years as a radio presenter and producer.
