Why Manchester United are going after another Chelsea star

Manchester United can be debated to have had quite a terrible summer alongside rivals, Liverpool despite welcoming new additions into the squad this summer in the likes of Mason Mount, Rasmus Hojlund and Andre Onana.

However, their new signings haven’t hit the ground running like the expectations and hype their moves rode on, and now it is being reported that the Red Devils are eyeing another Chelsea player for a summer move to Old Trafford.

Earlier on Saturday evening, sports journalist and transfer expert, Fabrizio Romano revealed that Manchester United were eyeing a move for Marc Cucurella on a loan deal to Old Trafford.

This supposedly could be in a hasty move to sort out the left-back option at its backline following Luke Shaw’s injury a week ago and also with last year summer signing, Tyrell Malacia also in the injury list.

Romano announced that Manchester United had reportedly established contact with Chelsea over the possible move of Marc Cucurella from Stamford Bridge to Manchester this transfer window on a loan deal.

Marc Cucurella so far has endured a difficult spell with the Blues since his move to West London from Brighton, and it appears the Red Devils may be considering jumping on the advantage of the Spaniard lacking game time at Stamford Bridge to lure the former Barcelona player.

Tyrell Malacia is expected to return next month, with no date for Luke Shaw as of publishing this article.

Diogo Dalot filled in for the two players at left-back against Nottingham Forest on Saturday’s league tie, but after a poor start that had resulted in Manchester United going down to 2 goals in 4 minutes, reinforcements in defense whether in the short term are eagerly anticipated.

The Red Devils are also rumored to be interested in signing another player with ties to Chelsea, in former Blues’ defender, Ryan Bertrand who has been a free agent since exiting Leicester City this summer.

However, it seems anything concrete at the moment is on gettig Marc Cucurella over to Manchester as the Red Devils have requested the conditions for a move on the Spaniard to Old Trafford as reported by Romano.

It is worthy to note that despite establishing contacts with Chelsea and asking of the player’s availability for a loan deal,  there has been ‘no bid or concrete talks yet’.
