“Why I don’t like Kissing” — Nollywood actress, Laide Bakare
Nollywood actress Laide Bakare has opened up about her reservations regarding taking on romantic roles that involve intimate scenes, including kissing and touching sensitive parts of the body.
In an exclusive interview with PUNCH, the movie star shared her perspective on portraying romantic scenes, expressing the unique challenges she faces, especially when it comes to striking a balance between the script’s demands and maintaining professionalism.
“Portraying romantic roles, especially scenes involving kissing and touching, pose unique challenges for me. Navigating the authenticity required for such moments while maintaining professionalism can be intricate.
“Balancing the demands of the script with personal comfort adds complexity to these roles, requiring a nuanced approach to ensure a convincing, yet respectful performance,” Bakare explained.
Beyond her on-screen challenges, the actress delved into her personal life, highlighting the difficulties she encounters in relationships and the quest for true love.
Laide Bakare noted that being in the spotlight often leads people to focus more on her profession and status as an actress, rather than understanding her true personality.
“As an actress and filmmaker, my primary challenge has to do with navigating relationships and finding true love.
“Sometimes, people are attracted to my status and my profession, rather than the essence of who I am. Distinguishing genuine connections from those based on fame then becomes a delicate task,” she shared.
