Why Arsenal Cannot Win The Premier League – Gary Neville
Gary Neville is quite consistently turning into the ultimate Arsenal critic owing to his continuous insistence that Arsenal do not have what it takes to win the Premier League.
Former Manchester United defender, Gary Neville, has expressed his doubts about Arsenal’s chances of winning the Premier League title this season, claiming that their “desperate” celebrations after their 4-2 victory over Aston Villa could ultimately cost them the crown.
Although the Gunners are currently sitting at the top of the table with a two-point lead over Manchester City, Neville believes that their emotional outburst after the Villa game was premature and could affect their performance in the remaining fixtures.
Speaking to The Overlap in Focus, Neville said, “It’s too much emotion, too early for Arsenal. To be that desperate and to celebrate that much with half the race still to go, it’s not a good thing. After the Aston Villa game, I can understand how big of a moment it was, but that level of celebration was quite desperate, quite early.”
Arsenal’s title credentials were in question in early February when they went three games without a win, allowing City to reclaim the top spot. However, the Gunners regained their position at the summit with a hard-fought victory over Villa on February 18, which was followed by their emphatic 4-0 win over Leeds United.
Despite their recent success, Gary Neville believes that Arsenal needs to remain focused and avoid getting carried away by the hype surrounding their title challenge.
He added, “The Premier League is a marathon, not a sprint. You have to pace yourself and stay calm. Arsenal has a good chance of winning the title, but they need to be careful not to let their emotions get the better of them.”
