Where Our Seasons Starts From -- Pep Guardiola

Manchester City manager, Pep Guardiola, has identified their next three fixtures as crucial to their season, following their 2-0 victory over Newcastle United in Saturday’s early kick-off.

Speaking to reporters after the game, Pep Guardiola acknowledged the importance of the upcoming games, stating that they will “define our season”.

He went on to praise his team’s performance, particularly in the first half, saying “we played a really good first half and after the game went up and down we put Bernardo on to make our possessions longer, we needed to keep more of the ball.”

City’s victory over Newcastle saw Phil Foden and Bernardo Silva score for the reigning Premier League champions.

Pep Guardiola was quick to acknowledge the challenge that Newcastle posed to his team, stating that it was “an incredibly good result for us because it was a tricky game.”

City’s next three fixtures will be against Crystal Palace, RB Leipzig, and Burnley. These games will be played across different competitions, with City scheduled to play Crystal Palace in the Premier League next Saturday, followed by the second leg of their Champions League last-16 tie against RB Leipzig on March 14. They will then face Burnley in the FA Cup quarter-finals on March 18.

Guardiola’s comments suggest that he sees these upcoming fixtures as pivotal to City’s season. The club is currently in second place in the Premier League table, six points behind leaders Arsenal. In the Champions League, they hold a 2-0 advantage over RB Leipzig from the first leg of their tie. The FA Cup represents another opportunity for City to win silverware this season.

City’s next opponents, Crystal Palace, are currently in 12th place in the Premier League table. RB Leipzig, meanwhile, are currently second in the Bundesliga, four points behind leaders Bayern Munich. Burnley are currently in 17th place in the Premier League table.

City will be hoping to build on their victory over Newcastle and continue their pursuit of Arsenal at the top of the Premier League table. The Champions League and FA Cup also represent important opportunities for the club to add to their trophy cabinet this season.
