"Whatever you do with this is none of my business" -- Basketmouth

Nigerian comedian, Basketmouth is surely a man who picks his moments wisely, and if there is any better time to stir social media, Bright Okpocha picked the perfect time.

Taking to his Instagram story, the Comedian touched subtly on the issue of polygamy by drawing on Biblical parallels to stress on his point.

Basketmouth in his analogy, compared Biblical characters who had only one wife to those who married multiple wives, drawing a controversial conclusion that the latter received more favor from God.

He listed characters such as Ahab, Herod, Ananias, Pontius Pilate, Jeroboam, Nebuchadnezzar, Haaman, and Zakayo, all of whom had one wife and, according to him, lost their way and betrayed God. However, in obvious parallels to Abraham, Jacob, David, Solomon, Rehoboam, Abijah, Elkanah, and Lemech, who had multiple wives, he highlights that they found favor in the eyes of the Lord.

“According to the Holy Bible,” Basketmouth wrote,

“Ahab – 1 wife Herod – 1 wife Ananias-1 wife Pontius Pilate – 1 wife Jeroboam – 1 wife Nebuchadnezzar. – 1 wife Haaman – 1 wife Zakayo – 1 wife. And they all lost their way and betrayed God. Abraham -3 wives Jacob – 4 wives David – 4 wives Solomon – 700 wives and 300 concubines Rehoboam – 18 wives Abijah – 14 wives Elkanah – 2 wives Lemech-2 wives eygiwa And they all found favour in the eyes of the Lord. Whatever you do with this information is none of my business… However u want to interpret it is your cup of tea but I will be comment session.”

This bold assertion has sparked a heated debate online, with many questioning his interpretation of the scriptures. While some applaud his audacity, others criticize him for oversimplifying and misinterpreting the complex narratives of these Biblical figures.

Of course, knowing the famed Comedian for his antics, his Instagram activity is obviously nothing more than Basketmouth cracking a joke for publicity.
