What The France President told Kylian Mbappe

Take out Lionel Messi from the world cup final, and you sincerely have a Kylian Mbappe world cup show of raw talent, but then again, life must have a balance and that balance ensured France didn’t go all the way to steal the world cup for a second time running.

For politician as well as the France president, Emmanuel Macron, he had quite some ways for the player post-match to sweet talk the star out of a bad mood following a disappointing end to a promising final.

After France’s 2022 FIFA World Cup final loss to Argentina on Sunday, President Emmanuel Macron revealed what he said to striker Kylian Mbappe.

Recall that Macron consoled Mbappe while watching Argentina’s World Cup victory celebrations from inside the Lusail Stadium.

Mbappe became the first player since Sir Geoff Hurst to achieve a hat-trick in a World Cup final when he scored three goals against Argentina.

Nevertheless, the Paris Saint-Germain player lost the match as Argentina won the world championship three times in Qatar.

Emmanuel Macron told RMC when asked what he said to Kylian Mbappe::

“Kylian Mbappe is a great player, but he’s young and I reminded him of that. I told him he’s only 24 and he was the World Cup top scorer. He’s won a World Cup before, he’s been to another final.

“I was as sad as him but I told him he had made us all very proud, and in the end, we lost a football match, we came so close. That is how it is in sport.”

He added:

‘We were very far off at the end of the first half. There have been comebacks like that, but it is very rare in the history of football.”
