What my real intentions with Super Eagles are -- Jose Peseiro

The head coach of the Nigerian national football team, Super Eagles, Jose Peseiro, has stated his commitment to building a strong and formidable team despite recent criticism over the team’s performance. The Eagles have struggled under Peseiro’s tutelage and their recent 1-0 home defeat to Guinea-Bissau led to calls for his sack.

However, the Super Eagles redeemed their image by defeating the Djurtus 1-0 on Monday night in Bissau. The victory means the Eagles need just one point from the remaining two games in the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers to seal a place in Cote d’Ivoire.

Peseiro remains undaunted by the task ahead and is confident he will get things right at the end of the day. In a statement on his Facebook page, the coach expressed his trust in the team’s processes, each other, and their identity. He also praised the players for their commitment to winning for Nigeria and making Nigerians proud.

“The work does not end here,” Peseiro said. “We remain determined to continue the hard work and bring glory to our team. With each game, we are more motivated to achieve our goals. The journey ahead may be long and challenging, but we are ready to face any obstacle that comes our way.”

The Super Eagles have been three-time African champions and have participated in six World Cup tournaments. They are currently ranked 34th in the FIFA world rankings and have produced several notable players such as Jay-Jay Okocha, Kanu Nwankwo, and Mikel Obi.
