A good move for Lionel Messi -- Gary Neville

Lionel Messi, the Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) forward, is set to lose approximately €1.7 million in wages due to his recent suspension from the French Ligue 1 club.

Lionel Messi has been suspended for two weeks without pay after the club was left displeased with his decision to travel to Saudi Arabia without the club’s permission earlier this week.

The suspension means that Messi will miss PSG’s next two matches against Troyes and Ajaccio this month. The Argentine World Cup winner has also been asked to stay away from training during his suspension period.

According to a report in Forbes, Messi’s suspension will result in him losing around €1.7 million in wages. This will undoubtedly come as a financial blow to the superstar, who joined PSG on a two-year deal last August.

Messi was in Saudi Arabia as part of his role promoting Saudi Arabian tourism, and was seen in the city of Riyadh. However, PSG was reportedly not informed of the trip, leading to the suspension of the player.

This news comes at a time when Messi has been in sensational form for PSG.

The suspension means that Messi will miss two crucial games for PSG, who are currently leading the Ligue 1 table by just one point over their rivals, Lille.

The club will now have to cope without their star forward for the upcoming fixtures, with fans hoping that the team can still maintain their position at the top of the table.
