What Jamie Carragher said about Caicedo's debut

Moises Caicedo had quite the forgettable debut for Chelsea yesterday, and for former Liverpool star and current pundit, Jamie Carragher, he was sure to criticize the Ecuadorian’s display against West Ham United that resulted in a 3-1 defeat for the Blues.

Jamie Carragher in his analysis of the game, categorized Caicedo’s debut as a ‘nightmare’ start for the club following his British record transfer fee to the Stamford Bridge.

The former Brighton and Hove Albion star was key to Chelsea falling to a 3-1 defeat at the London Stadium after his poor challenge on West Ham’s Emerson resulted in a penalty to West Ham while Chelsea trailed by 2 goals to 1.

Moises Caicedo was captured losing a number of early challenges and even had new goalie, Roberto Sanchez to thank for keeping the score at 3-1 after Pablo Fornals was denied a chance at goal.

The Ecuador international had gifted the West Ham player possession of the ball close to Chelsea’s penalty box.

The key act that took the Blues out of the game was his horror moment minutes to the final whistle when he fouled Emerson Palmieri.

According to Jamie Carragher, that incident summed up a nightmare debut for the Ecuadorian, saying as quoted on Sky Sports;

“That man Caicedo has had a bit of a nightmare since he came on, you have to say,”

“It is a poor, lazy challenge. Emerson always knows he will get there before him. We all watched it. He has not started great since coming on.”

Jamie Carragher prior to the game was vocal of his criticism on the transfer record fee paid for the Ecuadorian by the Blues.
