What Cristiano Ronaldo Told Sadio Mane

Former Liverpool star Sadio Mane has revealed what Cristiano Ronaldo told him in a private exchange while on holiday after completing his sensational transfer to Bayern Munich.

The Senegalese winger arrived at Liverpool in 2016 from Southampton in a deal worth £34m and enjoyed a successful six seasons under Reds manager Jurgen Klopp.

During his time at Anfield, Mane formed a formidable attacking trident with Mohamed Salah and Roberto Firmino and scored 120 times in 269 appearances. Mane revealed that he crossed paths with Al Nassr superstar Ronaldo in Mallorca and the five-time Ballon d’Or winner had a heartwarming exchange with him. “I met Cristiano Ronaldo in Mallorca before this season after my move was completed. He congratulated me and told me, ‘A great club! This is a great step for you!’”

Since moving to Germany, Mane has been enjoying life at Bayern, scoring 11 times in 24 appearances this season. Meanwhile, Liverpool has struggled without Mane, with Klopp’s men nine points adrift from the Premier League top four. Klopp has faced mounting pressure in recent weeks over Liverpool’s lack of consistency after the Reds’ Champions League collapse against Real Madrid.

However, Mane believes that Liverpool will “overcome” their current predicament and insisted that Klopp is “definitely the right man” for the club.

“Liverpool will be back. I’m convinced they will overcome this situation. They had many injuries and tough tests, but Jurgen Klopp is definitely the right man. He will lead Liverpool back up, from this season — the players love him.”
