We've made a mistake -- Jose Enrique on Firmino

Former Liverpool left-back, Jose Enrique, has expressed his disagreement with Liverpool’s choice to allow Roberto Firmino to leave the club this summer.

Firmino, who recently departed Anfield as a free agent, has joined Saudi Pro League side Al-Ahli, marking the end of his successful tenure with the Reds.

During his time at Liverpool, Firmino played a pivotal role in the team’s triumphs, contributing significantly to their major trophy haul under the guidance of manager Jurgen Klopp. The Brazilian forward was widely regarded as one of Klopp’s most vital players, showcasing his versatility and exceptional skills on the pitch.

Enrique, who himself wore the Liverpool jersey in his playing days, took to Instagram to voice his opinion on the club’s decision to part ways with Firmino.

In his post, Enrique expressed his belief that Liverpool has made a massive mistake by allowing Firmino to leave, asserting that the Brazilian forward remains superior to other potential replacements such as Gakpo and Darwin.

However, Enrique also wished Firmino the best of luck in his future endeavors, acknowledging his status as a significant figure and a legend for the Reds.

“I actually believe this is a massive mistake from Liverpool letting him go because if he is still fit he is better than Gakpo, Darwin so … But all the best, a big legend for the Reds!” Enrique wrote

Throughout his Liverpool career, Firmino made an impressive impact, not only in terms of his goal-scoring ability but also in his selfless contributions to the team’s overall gameplay. Over the course of 362 appearances for the club, he scored 111 goals and provided 79 assists, leaving a lasting mark on Liverpool’s success.

However, it is widely recognized that Firmino’s true value extended beyond mere statistics, as his intelligent movement, exceptional work rate, and ability to link play were instrumental in Liverpool’s attacking prowess.

With Firmino’s departure, Liverpool bids farewell to a player who played a vital role in the club’s recent successes, including winning the Premier League, Champions League, FIFA Club World Cup, UEFA Super Cup, and the domestic cups. His absence will undoubtedly create a void in Klopp’s squad, as the team adjusts to life without the influential Brazilian forward.

Liverpool fans will forever cherish the memories of Firmino’s contributions and the indelible mark he left on the club.

While opinions may differ on the decision to allow him to leave, the legacy of his time at Anfield will be remembered as one of skill, dedication, and integral contributions to Liverpool’s footballing achievements.
