We’ll be beaten If he plays against Liverpool—Rooney

The North West derby game is upon us as Manchester United sets to face Liverpool for the first time this season at Old Trafford, and for the right reasons, Wayne Rooney is nervous.

Of course, such fixture call for nerves from both players, ex-players and fans solely because at this moment, no side stands as favorites even though the media tries to paint Manchester United as underdogs.

Liverpool themselves are not in great shape compared to how they were last season when they came to Old Trafford to steal a 0-5 win as they raced to the Premier League title charge.

It doesn’t stop former Manchester United striker, Wayne Rooney from being worried though as he urges new manager, Erik ten Hag about 2 players who shouldn’t be in the Monday fixture.

For some reason, the Man United legend believes Cristiano Ronaldo and Marcus Rashford will be bad news for Manchester United going into the game, and would prefer them not to be involved.

The fact that losing 4-0 to Brentford last weekend, puts Manchester United already at a bad place, and for Liverpool to drop points in consecutive games knowing how stressful chasing Manchester City is, puts the whole fixture to a test.

This game from a title chasing run could ultimately become a relegation battle as victory for either side, dooms the other.

“I wouldn’t play Cristiano Ronaldo, and I wouldn’t play Marcus Rashford. If I was in Ten Hag’s position, my main concern would be getting energy on the pitch, and United’s failure to recruit a number nine means they relied on Ronaldo against Brentford, even though he had not trained a lot with the team. He looked like he needed time to get match fit.

“Ten Hag needs energy from his side and that may mean dropping Ronaldo,” Rooney said via the Times.
