Putting on hijab on little girls is sexualizing them - Imam Tawhidi

Mohammad Tawhidi, a popular Muslim influencer and reformist Imam has spoken up against little kids wearing hijabs, TOPNAIJA.NG reports.

Tawhidi who wondered why parents will be covering their kids with scarfs and robes meant for grown women in a video he shared, stated that the act sexualizes little girls.

He tweeted;

She’s a toddler that can’t even walk. Why do you cover her up with a robe and scarf that’s intended for mature women only? Even if you claim it’s a religious practice, it doesn’t apply to baby girls. You’re sexualizing a baby girl. You are sick.

Tawhidi had earlier held Sadiq Hussaini Shirazi as his marja taqlid -a religious leader whose authority, one follows in life. Since 2015, Tawhidi has stated that he does not subscribe to any particular religious leader. There have been marked differences between his and Shiraji’s views on a host of issues.

Tawhidi is president of the Islamic Association of South Australia, which he founded in 2016. He refers to himself as the “Imam of Peace”

Tawhidi has been embraced by a number of far-right and Islamophobic groups.
