"We will try" -- Arsenal boss on the way forward

Arsenal boss, Mikel Arteta prefers not to speak past his means nor raise hopes despite the 5-0 stumping of Palace, and if anything, would try as much as possible to force down the humility on his players and the fans.

Arsenal returned to premier league action on Saturday with the perfect performance to stun fellow London side, Crystal Palace in a 5-0 whooping.

The results builds the Gunners’ points tally and also their goal difference as they battle against Manchester City, Liverpool and Aston Villa for the top 4 spots.

The result puts Arsenal 2 points behind Liverpool and same tally of points with Manchester City but currently with a game in hand.

Reacting to the 5-0 victory versus Crystal Palace, Arsenal boss, Mikel Arteta was slow to confirming the Gunners’ strides amongst the title contention position, with the Spaniard preferring to keep his post-match reaction on humble grounds.

On if his team will be able to compete with Liverpool and Manchester City, Arteta said: “We will try our best.” preferring not to raise fans hopes ahead of a tougher half of the season.

“We need to make sure our players feel trusted and have confidence. If they are doubting, that is not helpful. We love the players we have.”

The North London side’s next opponents will be Nottingham Forest on January 30th, an equally tough match for the Gunners, and perhaps a banana peel on its end.
