We will not sell our 'Stars' to found Barcelona project -- Laporta

In a series of recent statements, Barcelona President Joan Laporta has shed light on the club’s ongoing transfer activities and addressed various player-related matters.

Laporta’s comments hint at potential movements within the squad, including a potential agreement with Tottenham Hotspur for defender Clément Lenglet.

Regarding Lenglet’s future, Laporta revealed that negotiations with Tottenham are progressing positively, indicating that an agreement for the French center-back could be reached.

This development could see Lenglet making a switch to the English Premier League side in the near future, bolstering Tottenham’s defensive options.

Laporta also addressed the uncertain situation surrounding midfielder Franck Kessié. While Barcelona is open to respecting Kessié’s wishes if he expresses a desire to leave the club, Laporta emphasized that the Ivorian midfielder could still be a valuable asset to Barcelona.

The final decision regarding Kessié’s future will be determined in collaboration with the player and the club.

The Barcelona president also expressed his confidence in young prodigy Ansu Fati, urging the talented forward to prove himself under the guidance of newly-appointed manager Xavi Hernández. Laporta emphasized that Fati possesses the necessary talent to earn the trust of the Barcelona legend and make a significant impact in the team.

Furthermore, Laporta hinted at the potential signing of Oriol Romeu, acknowledging that discussions were taking place within the club’s technical department regarding this option.

The Barcelona president indicated that the club is exploring opportunities to strengthen the squad and enhance the team’s competitiveness.

Responding to rumors and speculation, Laporta confirmed that Barcelona has received offers for several key players, including Andreas Christensen, Gavi, Pedri, Ronald Araújo, Marc-André ter Stegen, Ansu Fati, Raphinha, and Alejandro Balde.

However, he firmly stated that Barcelona is not a selling club and has no intention of parting ways with their star players.

“We have received offers for Christensen, for Gavi, for Pedri, for Araújo, for Ter Stegen, for Ansu, for Raphinha, for Balde…”

“But we are not a selling club. We have no intention to sell our stars.”

These updates from Laporta provide insights into Barcelona’s transfer plans and the club’s determination to hold onto their talented core.

While negotiations with Tottenham for Lenglet progress, the club remains committed to retaining their key assets, including the highly sought-after young talents who have attracted significant interest from other clubs.

As the summer transfer window unfolds, Barcelona fans eagerly await further developments, hoping to see reinforcements arrive while witnessing the continued growth and success of their promising young stars.
