“We were not seeing” — Klopp on why Liverpool failed to win
Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp expressed disappointment over his team’s inability to exhibit enough composure in front of goal, following their 0-0 draw against Manchester United, a result that halted their chance to reclaim the Premier League summit after Arsenal’s earlier win over Brighton.
The Reds, aiming to secure a crucial victory, couldn’t capitalize on numerous attempts, allowing United’s resilient defense to hold firm throughout the match.
Jurgen Klopp, reflecting on the missed opportunities, highlighted a lack of decisiveness and calmness in the final third as a significant factor in their failure to convert chances.
“The decisiveness was not there today, not calm enough, too much of a rush. When it is that intense, to make the right, calm decisions in the moment is another step,” Klopp analyzed during his post-match comments.
Despite asserting their attacking dominance, Klopp noted a lack of precision in their execution, observing how their style of play disrupted United’s organization but fell short in recognizing available space due to the opponents’ committed defensive efforts.
“The way we played disorganized them a lot but we did not see that. They just threw themselves at the ball. That means there is always a free player. We did not see that. That is why we drew the game,” Jurgen Klopp elaborated, emphasizing the crucial moments where Liverpool failed to capitalize on their advantage.
