There are a lot of players we lost at Manchester United, and yes, Jadon Sancho is my fault — Ole Gunnar Solskjaer opens up about his time as Manchester United boss.

Former Manchester United manager, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has opened up on the problems he faced at Old Trafford as Man United boss.

Ahead of the Red Devils clash versus Bayern Munich in the Champions League, the Norwegian revealed he was close to bringing a lot of star players the world knows of currently while he served as manager for the club.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer also opened up about the bitter comeback of Cristiano Ronaldo to Old Trafford, admitting it was a failure on his part that felt was right at the time.

“Bringing Cristiano Ronaldo back was a decision that was difficult to turn down and I felt we had to take it, but it turned out wrong,

“It felt so right when he signed and the fans felt that at Newcastle game, when Old Trafford was… rocking!” the former Molde and Cardiff boss said.

The 50-year-old also goes on to disclose that Harry Kane was keen on a move to Old Trafford from Tottenham back during the Covid-19 era, but the club’s budgetary constraints restrained the move from happening.

“I would have signed Harry Kane every day of the week and my understanding was that he wanted to come to Man United.

“But club didn’t have the budget with financial constraints from Covid, there was no bottomless pit,” Solskjaer said.

On Jadon Sancho’s failure at the club, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer admits to playing a small part in it, accepting the England international as a signing he campaigned for while as Manchester United boss.

“I wanted Jadon Sancho, yes. Unfortunately, it has not worked out. He’s immensely talented and I’m sure we haven’t seen the best of him,

“I hope we do, but he prefers to play left wing… where Marcus Rashford plays”

The ex-Man United boss also revealed Jude Bellingham turned down a move to Old Trafford.

“We wanted Jude Bellingham at Manchester United badly — he was one of my top targets at the club. Jude chose Dortmund and I respect that”

He also revealed Erling Haaland, Declan Rice and Moises Caicedo were players Manchester United had on their shortlist prior to their respective moves to rival premier league sides.

“These three players were in out list at Man United,” Ole Gunnar Solskjær said in his interview with The Athletic.

“Erling Haaland, before he made his Salzburg debut. Declan Rice, who wouldn’t have cost what he did in the summer.

“We discussed Moises Caicedo but we felt we needed players ready at that point”
