We need signings—Jurgen Klopp struggles to Admit

We need signings, Liverpool manager finally admits as he struggles hard not to say it after premier league opener draw against Fulham.

Jurgen Klopp is known to be quite honest with his responses in interviews no matter how much he tries to be political about it.

The 55 year old German has tries very much to cloud his feelings about the squad while being asked about incoming signings at the club, instead pinning it on the current situation of the squad at the time.

But after the injury to midfield maestro, Thiago Alcantara, Jurgen Klopp cannot stomach his feelings as he goes on a honest assessment of what the team needs; they need new signings.

Thiago Alcantara so far adds to the injury woes of the Liverpool team specifically in an area the squad finds themselves already thin with as Curtis Jones, Oxlade Chamberlain and Naby Keita are already down with fitness concerns.

Though the team confirmed they will wait to discover the extent of the former Bayern Munich player’s injury, Klopp can no longer hide his fears ahead of the coming season that in a lot of ways seems reminiscent of the 2020/21 season.

Thiago Alcantara was forced off the pitch during the Fulham game in the second half with an issue thus thinning the Liverpool midfield with only Jordan Henderson, James Milner, Fabinho as the only senior options available.

Speaking on the matter in the post-match press conference, Jurgen Klopp said:

“I know what will now come up, it’s clear. We said we don’t need a midfielder because we have enough – and we actually have enough, but the problem now is we get punished for something that is not our responsibility really because things like this can happen.

“Nobody could imagine that Curtis gets the thing he gets; it is nothing serious but he is a young boy and it is a kind of stress reaction. Bodies are like this. Naby is only ill and he will now be back definitely next week again. Oxlade happened early and now with Thiago that is, of course, not good and we will see.

“Look, a transfer must make sense now and in the long term; we have midfielders, we have still enough midfielders. It is not that we lack midfielders, but it’s just some of them are injured.

“This is not a good situation, I don’t like it at all, but we have to see how we react on that – but for sure not panicking.”

With injuries creeping into the squad from various angles, Klopp would be delirious to believe Liverpool do not need signings to solve its midfield situation no matter how political he might want to sound.
