"We need new players" -- Pochettino blasts Chelsea players

Chelsea manager, Mauricio Pochettino, had quite the reaction to loosing to Merseyside club, Everton at Goodison Park in a 2-0 shocking defeat.

The Argentine in his post-match press conference expressed the urgent need for new players during the upcoming January transfer window following their disappointing 2-0 defeat against Everton on Sunday.

The defeat pushed Chelsea to 12th place in the Premier League table, a substantial 14 points behind the fourth-placed Manchester City.

Despite Chelsea’s expenditure of over £1 billion in the last three transfer windows, Pochettino emphasized the necessity for new signings tailored to his vision for the team. While acknowledging their superiority in certain aspects of the game against Everton, he lamented the team’s lack of clinical finishing in front of goal.

Speaking to Match of the Day, Pochettino reflected,

“Football is about scoring goals, and our failure to convert chances disappoints me greatly. We played better than the result suggests. However, we didn’t secure the outcome we deserved.”

Recognizing the pressing issues, Pochettino emphasized the need for introspection and improvement in the upcoming transfer market.

“We need to assess the reality and have discussions to enhance our performance. After five months into the season, we must evaluate our situation. If our on-field aggression is lacking, perhaps recruiting new players is the solution,” he asserted.

The Blues currently face an injury setback with captain, Reece James going off in the first half after picking up an injury.
