We must not relive war Again in name of Separation—Buhari

Nigeria’s current President, Muhammadu Buhari while speaking at the State House in Abuja with the former chairmen of the defunct CPC party, the President advocated against the idea for war all in the name of Separatist agenda.

The President says this in reference to the many separatist agitations that plague the country particularly with the rise of the Biafran movement by the people of South East extraction and also the South West with their agitation for a Yoruba Nation.

On the President’s words, he said:

“Our main objective is the Federal Republic of Nigeria. We are human beings. We have our weaknesses, but I can assure you that the patriotism in us is hard earned,

“We have gone through all the troubles from 15th of January 1966 to date. You know what I mean by this, we have killed a million of ourselves in order to keep this country together.

“I don’t think there can be any practical experience more than that. We are Nigerians. God willing, we remain Nigerians and Nigeria will remain one.”

The separatist agenda in Nigeria is a move by its agitators to force a referendum that will grant specific regions autonomy to rule itself without interference from the central power of Nigeria.

The move most definitely is inspired by the late Chief Odumegwu Ojukwu’s Biafra stance in the 1966 civil war that for a period of 3 years divided the Nigerian State after the machinations of a coup d’état forced several regions to rethink its stance in the union of Nigeria.
