We have to do this without Osimhen -- Giovanni Di Lorenzo

Napoli’s captain, Giovanni Di Lorenzo, has expressed confidence that his team can achieve a positive result against AC Milan in their UEFA Champions League quarter-final clash tonight, even in the absence of their top scorer, Victor Osimhen.

Osimhen, who has scored four goals in five appearances for Napoli in the competition this season, is currently out with a muscle injury he sustained while on international duty with Nigeria in March. Despite his absence, Di Lorenzo believes that Napoli has full confidence in the available players and can cope without their star striker.

Napoli had suffered a 4-0 defeat against AC Milan in a league match last month, with Osimhen missing in action.

However, Giovanni Di Lorenzo remained optimistic and pointed out that the team does not rely solely on one player.

“We know that Osimhen is a great player and he is very important for us, but we don’t depend only on one player. We have and have full confidence in the available players,” he said.

Napoli, who currently leads the Serie A table, is eager to continue their impressive form in the Champions League. Their first leg quarter-final tie against AC Milan will take place tonight, and the team will be without their top scorer, Osimhen.

Di Lorenzo acknowledged that Osimhen’s absence would be felt, but he remained confident in the team’s ability to perform well. “So we are calm from this point of view. I repeat Osimhen is important for us, but he won’t be there in this match, and therefore, we will face them with the players we have,” he added.

Victor Osimhen joined Napoli from Lille in 2020 and has been a standout performer for the Italian side. Despite his absence, Napoli remains confident of securing a positive result against AC Milan in what promises to be an exciting quarter-final clash.
