We had not so good moments — Diogo Jota on Liverpool
Liverpool star, Diogo Jota played a role in the team’s mauling of Championship side, Leicester City in the club’s pre-season friendly in Singapore.
The Portuguese was on hand to give an important assist to Darwin Nunez for the team’s first goal in the game with the former Wolverhampton Wanderers’ star getting on the scoresheet himself for the team’s third goal in an eventual 4-0 win.
On the match, Diogo Jota opened up about the team’s performance in a honest assessment of the game. He was quoted saying;
“We wanted to build in this pre-season: the way we create from the back, the way we press,” after being named Player of the Match versus Leicester in the club’s pre-season tour in Singapore.
“I think we had good moments [and] not-so-good moments in that first half. I think the result in the end was clearly favourable for us, but we want to build on this physical side of the game and the way we can build as well.”
The Portugal international added when asked about players leaving the club and coming in this summer:
“Of course we want to do a lot better than we did last season. Last season was not great so we really want to improve on that.
“That’s what pre-season is all about: to build and try to get better for the start of the season.”
Diogo Jota has been in fine form for the club this pre-season, with the Portugal international scoring 4 goals with an assist in the 3 games Liverpool has played so far.
He joins the team’s forward line in maintaining peak form as they head into the new season with confidence.
